Much like the 45 neighborhoods that GHCC serves, each of our programs is interconnected and bolsters our holistic approach to fulfilling our mission.
Schools and Neighborhoods: Our Schools and Neighborhoods Program focuses in middle-market and lower income neighborhoods in order to improve the overall quality of life in north central Baltimore. Our strategies to strengthen these neighborhoods include improving public schools, facilitating private and public investment in neighborhoods and commercial corridors, and developing neighborhood leadership.
Adult Education: Our Adult Learning Center offers free instruction in basic reading, writing, math, and English skills, and job readiness training to more than 600 adult learners annually. These new found skills enable learners to compete in the workforce, developing Baltimore’s pool of employable workers equipped with the skills they need to succeed at home, at work, and in their communities.
Non-Profit Business Services: We support community organizations and small neighborhood projects engaged in charitable activities. For a small fee, we offer our legal status as a nonprofit to such groups so that they may accept tax exempt contributions without having to go through the costly process of securing a 501(c)(3) certification. We also provide administrative support, including payroll and fundraising assistance.
