Support Adult Literacy in Baltimore - Just by Shopping for Groceries!

About 30% of adults in Baltimore don't have a high school diploma, and even more read at the lowest literacy levels.  It's a tough problem, but you can help by doing something as simple as grocery shopping.

On Tuesday, September 9, GHCC's Adult Literacy and ESOL Program will be the beneficiary of 5% Community Day at the Whole Foods Market in Mt. Washington.  5% of the store's sales that day will be donated to the program.  The market is located at 1330 Smith Avenue, and hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

And while you shop, enjoy a day of fun activities for the whole family:

  • "Knit-In" for Literacy, 10-11:30 a.m., 1-3 p.m., and 7-8:30 p.m., featuring instruction for beginners
  • Craft projects for kids
  • Live music at lunch and dinnertime
  • Raffle giveaways
