Healthy Neighborhoods promotes these neighborhoods by making low-interest home purchase and rehab loans available to homebuyers as well as funds for block projects and capital improvements. Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSPS) was established to stabilize neighborhoods by reinvesting in properties that have been foreclosed upon or abandoned. Through its Direct Purchase Program, Healthy Neighborhoods, Inc. has $25,000 forgivable loans available for homebuyers to help defray the cost of the purchase of a foreclosed or abandoned home in certain neighborhoods. The neighborhoods in Greaterhomewood include Ednor Gardens-Lakeside, Better Waverly, and Barclay.
