Directions to Greater Homewood Community Corporation
The Greater Homewood Community Corporation is located at 3503 North Charles Street; the Greater Homewood Literacy Program is located in the basement of University Baptist Church, 3501 North Charles Street. The buildings are just east of the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus, at the intersection of Charles Street and Greenway.
By Car
From I-83, take the 28th Street exit east to Charles Street. Go seven blocks north on Charles Street* and turn right onto University Parkway. At the next light (St. Paul Street), make a sharp right onto Greenway. The University Baptist Church is a large, white building on the right, and the Literacy Program entrance is under the canopy near Charles Street. The main offices are across the small parking lot north of the church at 3503 N. Charles.
Two-hour parking is available on Greenway, and metered parking is available on University Parkway and St. Paul Street, as well as on the access road parallel to Charles Street (but it is rather narrow!).
* If physical limitations do not allow you to climb steps, turn right from Charles Street into the parking lot on the north side of the church. (Note: this street entrance is for dropping off passengers only; no lot parking is available). Follow the sidewalk signs to the building’s accessible entrance.
Bus Routes
The organization is within walking distance of three bus lines: #3, #22, and #61.
Route #3 travel: travels north on Charles to 33rd Street and turns right. Get off at 33rd, return to Charles Street and proceed north two blocks. OR, travel west on 33rd; bus turns south on St. Paul Street. Get off, go one block west to Charles and proceed two blocks north.
Route #22 travels east-west along University Pkwy. Get off Charles & University and travel one block south on Charles St. to #3503.
Route #61 travels south on St. Paul Street. Get off at St. Paul & University Pkwy. and follow Greenway, then cross the church parking lot. 3503 faces Charles St. across the lot. OR, travel north on Charles and get off in front of the building before University Pkwy.
